Teacher with Class
Available for children aged 11-17 years. This programme’s main focus is the development of language and skills through 25 hours of content driven class projects. Learners develop their English through lessons, activities and excursions based around a project, for example ‘The Environment’, ‘The Media’, ‘Culture and the Arts’. Learning is often ‘task-based’: learners practise and develop their language through tasks such as conducting surveys and writing reports. This programme is also available at other times of the academic year in different sites. All Project English courses have one ‘Discover London’ academic excursion each week to galleries, museums and historical sites. The focus is on using London as an outdoor classroom. The students do intensive preparation for the excursion, complete tasks and worksheets whilst on the excursion and do follow-up work when they get back to class. There is also one sports session per week during which students practise sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, dance, iceskating and badminton.

Class of Students
The Young English Studies course at Gloucester Gate is available in June, July and August for students who want a holiday course in London. All levels are accepted. The 15 hours of English tuition focuses on improving students’ core skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening, as well as working on a weekly project related to the excursions. For 3 afternoons per week students play sports, do creative arts and play language games. For 2 afternoons per week students go on the ‘Discover London’ trips and on Saturday they go on the ‘Discover England’ trips. Courses are from 2 to 9 weeks and all course materials, testing on arrival and certificates are included.

Playing Tennis
Under careful supervision students are offered a choice of structured recreational sports and other activities on three afternoons per week. Sports take place at a nearby sports centre or in the beautiful surroundings of Regents Park, and can include tennis, badminton, rounders, volleyball, football, basketball and indoor football. Art can include sketching, clay modelling, painting, papier maché. Other activities can include Crazy Olympics, scavenger hunts, It’s a Knockout, musical events such as karaoke, theme parties or performances by staff and students. In the event of bad weather sports are held indoors, or games and films are offered in school alongside art activities. English Study Tours does not offer professional sports training as part of the course, though one-to-one tennis tuition can be arranged at extra cost.

Two Friends
Excursions form an integral part of the education programme. The high staff to student ratio on all excursions ensures the safety and well being of students at all times. Discover London 2 half day trips per week – places can include: the Science Museum, Covent Garden, the British Museum. Discover England One full day (Saturday) excursion per week. Destinations can include: Cambridge, Brighton, Oxford.

Homestay Students
In both Project English and Young English Studies, accommodation with a parent (or without parent depending on the age of the student) can be arranged in a homestay through an accommodation agency. Homestays are carefully selected and regularly inspected. Homestay providers will assist with students’ laundry. Accommodation fees are for 7 nights with a minimum 2 week booking. Fees are for single or shared rooms with breakfast and dinner daily. In addition, children will have their lunch at the school Monday to Friday. Shared room prices are only available for two students enrolling and travelling together.

Students on an Excursion
We can arrange airport transfers from/to all London airports: Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted and City for up to 3 people per taxi travelling to or from one London address. We need flight details 2 weeks before arrival at the latest. 24-hour emergency telephone numbers are issued to students and their parents. A member of staff can be contacted at any time should students encounter any problem or difficulty. Medical support is always available. We maintain very close supervision of students at all times, to ensure their safety and well-being and that they derive the maximum benefit from their course. Students are given an introduction on their first morning and are expected to follow the school rules.
