English for Education

Ages 3-4: nursery

Minimum 22 hours per week
Levels: Nursery students are not graded by level

For learners aged 3-4, the focus is on creative play based learning and the development of communication and social skills. Learners also develop their numeracy, communication and cognitive skills in English with specialist nursery teachers. Activities include playing with toys, sand, construction games, arts and crafts, and songs and rhymes. Outdoor play and sports provide opportunities for children
to develop English language and motor skills. There are also drama and music sessions, which are led by specialist teachers. Every week nursery learners have an Extended Learning Experience, for example animal mask workshops, puppet making and/or an excursion. High ratios of staff supervision on all outside activities means that children are safe and secure throughout the school day.

Ages 5-7: lower primary

Minimum 24 hours per week
Levels: Beginner to Advanced depending on number of classes

Learning English is play based with various project led activities in which learners work collaboratively and are encouraged to communicate in English throughout. Learners take part in hands-on activities, moving around the class, making things and working both collaboratively and independently. As lessons are project based, we encourage learners to research new information by using books, computers and iPads. English
is learnt through a variety of disciplines such as geography, maths, science, art, drama and music as well as English classes. Classes are connected to a weekly project or theme, which is linked to the weekly excursion. All lessons support learners in their language development. Sports lessons combine a number of team games such as football, rounders and dodge ball.

Excursions take place in central London and provide an excellent opportunity for learners to learn outside the classroom, visit some of London’s famous museums and enjoy a day of authentic use of English. High ratios of staff supervision on all outside activities means that children are safe and secure throughout the school day.

Our teachers

All academic staff are qualified to teach and hold either a TEFL or Primary/Secondary teaching certificate. Our teachers provide correct and accurate language models for students. They are professional, welcoming and work to high standards throughout the summer school.

The course gives an opportunity for both Parents and Children to study at the same time in central London. Parents of children aged 3-10 can study in either of our adult schools in Soho or our special summer school at SKOLA Baker Street which is less than 10 minutes walk from this school.

that he can explain everything he
needs. I am really glad I was
recommended to bring him
and ready to bring next year."

Accommodation & Welfare

Parent and Child Homestay Accommodation

Parents are responsible for their own children outside school hours and in the accommodation. This means the parent is also responsible for the child travelling to and from school and when they arrive home from school. If the child has been booked onto our mini-bus service the parent must be at home to greet them in the afternoon. Parent and child homestay includes breakfast and evening meal every day. Weekend lunch is not included. Homes are normally in London travel zones 2-3 but can also be in zone 4 from June to August.

We also have partnerships with local estate agents who can help you and your family find a suitable place near the school.

For more infomation about accommodation and welfare see - Junior Accommodation.

  • We are very pleased for our child’s progress in the English language. Hopefully next year he will have the same course again. Thanks a lot for our child’s feeling of happiness and safety.- ICS School is very good. My children love it.
  • We have found information about the school from our friends in Azerbaijan. We decided to bring our daughter over to London this summer and we are very pleased with the results. The program is very well balanced and our daughter is pleased with it. Thank you for the quality job you deliver!
  • My son didn’t speak any English before he went to this school. He was here 4 weeks and after that he not only could speak a bit, he understood people when they addressed to him in English. And in general he got interested in learning the language. This was my major aim. Thanks to all the teachers and the teaching system they have.
