5 ways we are using Gen AI at SKOLA

At SKOLA, we're always looking for ways to make things run more smoothly, both for our staff and, most importantly, for our students. This summer, we've been exploring how new technology can help us with everything from recruitment to lesson planning and answering your questions. Here's a look at how we're putting these tools to good use:
1. Finding the Best Teachers
Recruiting excellent staff is paramount to providing a high-quality summer school experience. We use Gemini, built into our Google Workplace account to help evaluate interviews. All our initial interviews are done through Google Meet, we record each and transcribe candidates' answers and ask Gemini to evaluate the responses against a set criteria based on teaching knowledge, general intelligence, leadership qualities and SKOLAness.
2. Crafting Engaging and Effective Lessons
We want to provide students with an immersive and enjoyable English learning experience. We use Gemini to adapt our lessons according to the students we have in the class. One question we ask Gemini and ChatGPT is what are the common misconceptions students from particular countries are likely to have regarding the current learning objective. It's what a very experienced highly skilled teacher would ask and we ensure that question is asked for every lesson.
3. Using Gemini to evaluate student-level speaking tests.
Students at SKOLA take a 20-minute English speaking test via Google Meet, which is then evaluated using Gemini. Gemini records, transcribes, and scores the test (0-100) based on specific level criteria. These scores help us place students in the right learning groups for our summer school.
4. AI Agent on our website We're employing SKOLA Trained AI Agents to handle common enquiries, such as programme details, pricing, and accommodation options, providing instant answers and freeing up our sales team to focus on more complex enquiries on our website. A summary of the questions parents asked last year has created our FAQ section.
5. Better Email Communication
We're using software to help us generate personalised email responses that address specific questions and concerns, creating a more engaging and responsive customer experience.
The Importance of Human Interaction
While these tools are valuable aids, we firmly believe that the human touch is irreplaceable. We you send an email, or write a WhatsApp message, you want a person who knows the school to answer.
We're excited to see how these technologies can help us provide a better service. By embracing innovation, we're committed to providing the best possible learning environment for our students and a seamless experience for our staff and customers.
