A Leaders class discussing the meaning of freedom, summer 2025.

Dear Parents, today, I want to tell you about our Behaviour Blueprint, which helps us all work together to make our school a positive and fun place for everyone.

What is the SKOLA Behaviour Blueprint?

The Behaviour Blueprint is a document that explains our school's rules and how we manage behaviour. It helps us to make sure that everyone (teachers, staff, students, parents and agents) acts in a way that is ready, kind, and safe. These three words are our most important rules, and all other rules come from them.

Our main goal is to create a calm, safe, and friendly environment for all students and staff. We believe that good behaviour is important for learning and for feeling good. When everyone behaves well, students feel safe and can focus on their studies without worry. This also helps our teachers to feel good about their work and stay in the profession.

Our Three Main Rules

At SKOLA, we have three simple rules that cover all behaviour:

  • Ready: This means being on time for class, listening carefully, and having the right equipment for lessons. It helps students be prepared to learn.

  • Kind: Being kind means being polite, respectful, and friendly to everyone. This includes not shouting, not calling names, and not bullying others.

  • Safe: This rule is about being careful and not doing anything that could hurt you or someone else. For example, when we go on a school trip, we make sure we cross the road safely.

Everyone should know these three rules and we use them when we talk about good and bad behaviour.

How Do We Encourage Good Behaviour?

Our teachers are very important in creating a good culture at school. They are role models and show students how to be ready, kind, and safe. We believe that adults need to show good behaviour themselves. When a student does something good, like helping a friend or finishing their work on time, our teachers try to notice and praise them. We want to "catch students doing the right thing" as much as possible.

We also have special routines that help make our school day smooth and predictable for students. For example, teachers have a special way to welcome students into the classroom every day. This helps students feel comfortable and ready to learn.

What Happens if a Student Breaks a Rule?

We focus on helping students improve their behaviour, not just punishing them. If a student breaks a rule, we have a clear plan to help them get back on track. We don't use detentions. Instead, our teachers use a special "script" to talk to students about what happened. The script helps them to calmly remind the student of the rule, and to help them make a better choice.

If a student continues to have problems with their behaviour, a teacher might have a meeting with them to talk about how to fix things. If that doesn't work, a director might get involved. As a last resort, if the behaviour is very serious and unlikely to change, we might need to talk to you, the parents, in a meeting.

Keeping Children Safe

A very important part of our Behaviour Blueprint is keeping children safe from harm. All of our staff have a duty to care for our students. We have a clear plan to protect children and we work with other policies, such as our Safeguarding Policy. Staff are trained to recognise any signs of harm and to know how to help.

We hope this gives you a good idea of how we work to create a supportive and positive school environment for your children. If you have any questions about our Behaviour Blueprint, please don't hesitate to ask. We are here to help your children learn and grow in a happy and safe place.
